I'm better now, and I've been busy creating!

Sorry about my last, depressing post.  I'm fine...and life's too short.  So, here are some things I've done lately.

IMGP4204

It seems like I do many more pages of Sarah since Levi won't let me take many pics of him, so here's a couple of Levi's graduation pics.

IMGP4216

And this is my first project for the October Kit Of The Month for Scrapbook Legacies Design Team.  You may remember seeing my pet black widow a while back... this was so fun!  I used cardboard for the background and it just went from there.

Then I altered an "A" to add to my ever-growing collection.

IMGP4217

Then, a simple card...

IMGP4221

And since I didn't have any more Halloween pics, I did a page of my friend Dawn's kids!

IMGP4233

Aren't they so cute?

Then I did a couple of pages of my niece & nephew, Preston & Payton.  They were so funny, playing in the dog crate!

Tomorrow is my 23rd wedding anniversary!  I hope you all have a great rest of the weekend!

"Til I die, I will not remove mine integrity from me." Job 27:5

Have you ever had your integrity impuned?  Let me tell you a story.

For the past year, I have enjoyed traveling to Buffalo, WY for a Scrapbooking retreat every 3 months.  A group of us would go together and have a great time.  Or so I thought.....

Yesterday, my friend, Terry, who owns the local scrapbook store called me.  Apparently, she and I have been banned from the retreats.  Huh?  Yeah, that's what I said.  They claimed it was 'conflict of interest'.  Of course, it wasn't a problem before... just all of a sudden.  They claimed that Terry was 'stealing their customers' by offering to get them items at a greater discount.  Not true.  They were out of an item and Terry offered to get one for our mutual friend at the same discount so that she wouldn't have to wait at least 3 months to have Buffalo order it in.

And my involvement?  What horrendous sin did I commit?  I am accused of 'spying' for Terry.  Supposedly, I was in their store & calling Terry, telling her what they had & advising her what she should order.  Not true.  The truth is that I was calling her to see what she wanted me to buy for her....for HER.

Number one... why should anyone care?  When asked before Terry ever came, they said that they were 'confident in their standing' and it wouldn't be a problem.

SOMEONE is stirring the pot.  Terry & I are both incredibly hurt.  Neither of us are the type of people who would do this.  You want to feel like you were attacked?  This is it.  Why would anyone be so petty to want to hurt someone else like this?  We spent a lot of $$$ at that store, but you can bet that we won't again.  The fact that they just assumed that we would do this & not call and talk to us about it, shows their true colors.  Anyone who truly knows us, knows better.

And to all of you who know us & support us... thanks.  We appreciate you, too.  :)

I'm ready to show her off!

Are you ready?  No, I mean really, really ready?  Because she isn't your everyday, run-of-the-mill pink scooter.  Not that any pink scooter is something to be sneezed at, but I'm liking mine even more!  Wanna see why?

Here's the before pic...

IMGP4163

And........a front shot.......

IMGP4164

and the plain, black carbon helmet, of course!

IMGP4165

Oh... did you notice my new jacket?  I'm lovin' it!  And now... here's the big reveal!

IMGP4167

IMGP4168

What do you think?  I ordered my license plate yesterday..... I'll show you when it arrives!

We are all in BIG Trouble!!!

NOW we're in trouble!

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons baking cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips(optional)
a small splash of vanilla essence
1 coffee mug

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well
Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well.
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla essence, and mix again.

Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts. The
cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!

Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).

And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world? Because now we
are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or
night!

Just one more page...

I did another page w/ my KOTM from Scrapbook Legacies... the picture is from the same day as the one of my nephew.  It was really fun to do and I'm happy with how it turned out.

IMGP4149

This Fancy Pants line of papers are great!  Anyway, I hope everyone had the chance to do something creative this weekend!

Finally got to create a little bit!

I worked on some things for the DT that I'm on using the KOTM for Scrapbook Legacies.  I did a page featuring my nephew, Preston...

IMGP4140

Then I covered an old wooden cigar box that I bought at Goodwill.  Here's the top of it.

IMGP4144

And here's a card I made with the scraps.

IMGP4146

I'm hoping to work on some more things tomorrow.  Have a great rest of the weekend!

A New Shipment Has Arrived!

I received some more African Butterflies.  They are still $20 each, and if you want a certain one, call me right away.  :)  Here they are!

These are the "Beada" style.

IMGP4118

Here are the "Ndebele" style.....

IMGP4119

And next we have the "Stones & Bones"...

IMGP4120

The "Dupla" style.....

IMGP4121

And, I know there's only one, but maybe she'll have more next time I order..... this one is a "Tripla".

IMGP4123

I'm thinking forwards to Christmas.... these will be great gifts.

In other areas of my life.... the kids are back to school & Glenn & I are once again Empty Nesters.  It's pretty quiet, and Oscar is really missing Sarah.  He loved to go get in bed with her on days she was home & Glenn & I headed off to work.  Poor Puppy.

I've spent the day at Scrapbook Legacies trying to make another acrylic book that spells "WOOF" for a class they are doing.

I'll try to check in sooner next time with more tidbits!

Have a great weekend!

She's ALIVE!!!!!

Nope.  the bees haven't 'done me in'.  I survived.  I went to the walk-in clinic & ended up getting steroids.  By the end of the day, my hands were a little bit better.  By the end of the next day... tons better!  It took a couple of days but then I could wear my rings, etc.

So...what's been going on since the 'attack of the killer bees'?  Tons!

Tuesday of this week, I flew to Calgary, Canada.  AND, I got my first stamp in my passport.  Ok, so maybe it's only a big deal to me, but I thought it was cool.  Then I left my meetings a 1/2 hour early to catch a plane to Salt Lake City, UT.  So, here I sit in Provo.  Glenn & Sarah drove down here last Wednesday.  She's all moved in.  She was able to get the same room she had last year, so that made her happy.  I have had a wonderful time here!  Yesterday, we drove to Park City after visiting the mall.  I went to two fantastic stores... wanna see???

Archivers_Coach

Oh, yes!  It was a VERY good day!  I was a good girl at Archivers.  I only bought a couple of things.  And @ Coach.... well I bought a purse for me, and one for Terry.  It was so funny to take pics w/ my phone & send them to her.  Glenn looked so cute holding the different purses while I took the pics!  (Poor Glenn).

Today was even a BETTER day!  How is that possible, you ask?  Well, Glenn was a very busy boy before I arrived.  Wanna see what he bought me?

Venice 3

It's a bird.....

Venice 2

It's a plane...

Venice 1

No!  It's Annette who FINALLY got her pink scooter!  I'm a happy girl!  Now I just have to Bling it up!

And you'd better believe I will!

The saga continues...

You aren't going to believe this....cuz I wouldn't either.  I was woken up at 2am this morning with a terrible pain in my hand.  Actually.... in both hands!  I knew pretty quickly what had happened... I'd been stung again!  Twice!  This is nuts.  A wasp was in my room - and stung me twice!  On the back of my right hand and on my left palm, on the fat pad below my index finger.  Here's a pic that Glenn took at 2:30 this morning.

Wasps stings 2

Not sure that you can really see much... but this is what they look like at 9pm tonight.

DSC_0587

It's funny how it doesn't show how swollen it is at the base of my index & middle fingers.  And how swollen my two fingers are.  This is the hand where I was stung on the palm... Ugh.  I'm going to keep an eye on it, but what can I do?  I'm already on antibiotics.

Here's my right hand.  DSC_0593

The left one really bothers me much more than the right.  So typing should be interesting tomorrow.

Glenn found a wasp's nest up in the attic.  Plus, we are remodling the bathroom (yes, still).  So, they are literally walking into the house on the cable line.  From outside and/or the attic.  I hate wasps.  And in less than 2 weeks, I've been stung 3 times.

Well, I'm having a hard time typing, so it must be time to go.  I've been terrible about posting, but I'll try to be better!  If I can stay healthy!

I'll see if I can get Glenn to take a couple of pics of my hands together again.  Ok.  Here is what they look like together at 10pm tonight.

10pm

Ok!  NOW you can see the redness & swelling.

Can you say, "Cellulitis"?

2008 has just not been my year.

January: Fall on the ice & break my tailbone.

February: Fall on the stairs & shatter my wrist...have surgery...get a plate & screws.

March: No trauma.

April: No trauma.

May: Was hit by a semi-trailer.  As a pedestrian.

June: Tripped over a parking stop and hit hard on my knee.  And I mean hard.  Had to pick gravel out of my knee and opposite foot.  Am still having problems with my knee.  (Of course, I didn't go to the doctor.)

July: No trauma.

August: Was stung by a wasp (or hornet or something) while I was driving my scooter on August 6th.  I was minding my own business and everything!  I somehow managed not to crash the scooter.  I was carrying a messenger bag against my side, and the wasp must've been caught between my bag & my waist.  Hurt like the dickens!  It didn't look too bad Wednesday night, but was red area was much larger Thursday.  Thursday night it was even worse & around the sting site felt a little 'leathery'.  Friday morning...looked a bit worse.  By noon, I figured, "Dang!  I have an infection!"  So I went to the walk-in.  I told the doctor that I figured I needed to come in before I ended up with cellulitis.  She said, "Too late".  It hadn't even been 48 hours!  I didn't think it could happen so quickly.  Shows what I know.  She did say that if I had waited much longer, I'd be looking at IV antibiotics instead of the Keflex prescription that I walked out with.  she drew around the area with a marker and I have to keep an eye on it.  If it goes outside the marked area...I have to go back in.  It was about 6" x 3.5".  Here is what it looks like after 3 doses of the Keflex.  It's getting better already!

Aug 2008 Cellulitis

Hmmm, maybe I should've cropped out my stretch marks.  Oh well, sometimes the truth hurts, huh?  Anyway, wish me luck with the Keflex.
